ELF Cosmetics Haul (+ Makeup Tutorial)

August 11, 2016

Happy Thursday everyone! This post was supposed to be up yesterday, but it was my sister's birthday, so I decided to postpone the post until today. I'm super excited about this post because I love this brand with all my heart and soul, as it was one of the first beauty brands that I used and navigated me to makeup/beauty. My local Wal-Mart is officially carrying +e.l.f. Cosmetics (yeah, they didn't carry elf before) and I'm so hype about it.
I went a little crazy of course, as you can probably tell from my instagram. (Speaking of, if you aren't following me on instagram, you should.) This is a spur-of-the-moment haul. To give you a little background, I went in to buy Advil and walked out with makeup/makeup supplies and guess what? No Advil. Was it worth it? Absolutely.

ELF is a perfect company to start with if you're new to makeup or even if you just love makeup but don't want to break the bank. Makeup can get very expensive, especially within the "high-end" brands. I find it is incredibly hard to find decent quality makeup for less than $25 a piece. However, ELF gives you the quality... and nothing you're about to see is more than $10 CAD. Isn't that insane? (Elf is well-known for their $1 - $3 - $6 price points.) I'm going to stop babbling and get to the haul.

Makeup Remover/Cleansing Cloths | $3

These are essential. I'm often too lazy to do an entire face wash (especially after a night out) and these are a life saver. Gets rid of the majority of the gunk so your face wash doesn't have to work as hard. Get them here.

Daily Brush Cleaner (aka the real MVP) | $3

Speaking of cleansing, not only does your face need cleansing - your brushes do too! Ideally it's best/recommended to wash your brushes after each/every couple uses and your beauty blenders/blending sponges after every use. Of course, I don't think many people actually follow that rule (guilty!) but this daily brush cleaner makes life so much easier. Rather than hauling all your brushes to the bathroom for a scrub down every day, just spray them with this brush cleaner, wipe away the excess makeup and leave them to dry. Ready for you to use tomorrow. Get this here.

Makeup Mist & Set | $3

Setting spray! Keep your makeup from running/fading with setting spray. (Tip: Use before and after apply makeup to really secure your face.) I love how lightweight this setting spray is. No sticky or gunky feeling afterwards. Ayeee. Get this here.

Perfect Finish HD Powder | $6

This translucent powder is life. I really expected it to come off dusty on me and it really surprised me and set effortlessly into my skin. I have oil-combination skin and many translucent powders and primers aren't quite strong enough to control all my oil. But this in combination with the IMAN Cosmetics Under Cover Agent Oil Control Primer, really controlled my oil for the entire day. Get this here

 Illuminating Palette | $6

You know what it is. H I G H L I G H T E R. I was a little nervous about this palette at first because I was worried that not all the highlights would look too great on my complexion. Surprisingly, they all blend seamlessly and don't leave me with an odd mixture of dusty/shimmery. Babe on the bottom right has to be my fave. Gimme that gold highlight! Get this here.

Mad For Matte Eyeshadow Palette | $10

I've never been much of an eyeshadow purchaser. I always felt they were too expensive and the lower priced ones never quite showed up on my skin right (usually appeared dusty and unpigmented.) This palette isn't all pigment, but for a $10 palette, it shows up pretty damn good on my complexion. And to prove it to you, I've made a GRWM video to show you just how amazing +e.l.f. Cosmetics is. Get the MFM Palette here.
